To be eligible, service members must have served at least 30 consecutive or 60 cumulative days within an authorized anti-terrorism campaign. Service time may be waived when a service member participated in active combat, required medical evacuation after having been wounded or posthumously for any service member who dies from combat or non-combat wounds while in the line of duty. The designated operations for the GWOTS are as follows: Airport Security Operation, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
